How Many Portable Bathrooms in Reading, PA Do You Need for Your Event?

Are you planning an upcoming event and researching your options for portable bathrooms in Reading, PA? If you’ve been contemplating how many porta potties you may need, there are some basic guidelines you can follow to help determine the number of portable bathrooms that makes the most sense for your and your guests’ needs.

Doing the math

To figure out how many portable bathrooms to reserve for your event, first decide how many hours your event will last. If it’s being held over multiple days, use the day with the longest hours as your guide.

Next, be sure you know how many guests will be attending. Again, if the event will be held over multiple days, refer to the day when you expect the largest number of attendees.

A basic rule of thumb is that for an event lasting no more than a few hours and with no more than 50 guests, one portable bathroom should be sufficient. Once your needs call for a portable bathroom to be available for more than four hours, you’ll want to increase the number of portable bathrooms by one.

If you have closer to 100 guests or more, you’ll want at least two portable bathrooms, regardless of the length of the event. Again, if you determine that you’ll need portable bathrooms for more than four hours, you should add on one more.

Another useful tip is that, for a short event with 1,000 guests, five portable bathrooms would be an ideal number, and for a similarly short event with 2,000 guests, you’ll want at least eight available restrooms.

Beyond that, be aware that you’ll want to increase the number of portable bathrooms by larger increments depending on the number of guests and the length of the event.

If you have additional questions, you can look online for portable bathroom estimate charts or contact your portable bathroom provider to talk through your particular situation in more detail.

Other tips

You’ll also want to be sure to add one portable bathroom that is handicap accessible for each 20 portable restrooms. Or, if your basic needs call for only one porta potty for the event, add on another one that is handicap accessible.

Serving alcohol at your event? Make sure you have 15 to 20 percent more portable bathrooms than your original estimate, as your restrooms will receive much heavier use once guests begin drinking alcohol.
